What are some of the benefits that Collin County Community College District has to offer?

Medical Insurance

Several medical plans are available including traditional indemnity coverage with a PPO or a choice of several HMOs. The employee's coverage is provided by the college with optional dependent coverage available at employee expense. The medical plans cover prescription medications, some through a prescription drug card or a mail order option. Coverage is available on the first day of employment and includes $5,000 basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment benefits.

Dental Insurance

Employees have a choice between indemnity and DMO dental plans. The college provides employee coverage; employee-paid coverage is available for dependents.

Cafeteria Plan Benefits

  • Eligible employee paid premiums may be deducted on a pre-tax basis.
  • Tax sheltered reimbursement accounts can be established for eligible medical/dental or dependent care expenses.

Optional employee-paid coverage is available:

  • Term life insurance in multiples of the employee's annual salary.
  • Dependent life insurance coverage.
  • Individual and family accidental death and dismemberment plans.
  • Short-term disability plan; provides up to 60% of regular insured monthly salary for up to five months for qualified disabilities and after 30 days of continuous disability and exhaustion of available sick leave.
  • Long-term disability; plan provides up to 60% of regular insured salary up to age 65 for qualified disabilities after 90 days of continuous disability and exhaustion of available sick leave.
  • Universal life insurance policies that are portable.

Retirement Programs

Eligible employees participate in one of the retirement plans (in lieu of Social Security.)

  • Teachers Retirement System of Texas (TRS) plan features:
    • Pre-tax employee contribution and additional state contribution.
    • Five year vesting for retirement income benefit.
    • Disability retirement and death benefit provided.
  • Optional Retirement Plan (ORP) features:
    • Available to teaching faculty and certain administrators as an alternative to TRS.
    • Pre-tax employee contribution and additional state and college contributions.
    • One year and one day vesting period.

Paid Leave Benefits

  • Monthly sick leave accrual of eight hours for full-time benefits-eligible employees; may accumulate up to 528 hours.
  • Monthly vacation accrual for eligible staff.
  • Eight hours annual personal leave per fiscal year.
  • 14 paid staff holidays.
  • Sabbatical leave for eligible faculty and staff.
  • Sick leave pool.

Additional Benefits

  • Participation in Medicare (1.45% employee contribution), but not Social Security (FICA).
  • Fitness facilities available including tennis courts, basketball courts, racquetball and circuit weight training. College Wellness Program offers some matching college-paid time for fitness activities.
